Cherokee Strip was opened,* and lie ran cattle over the territory during the hectic days of its operation. When the Strip was closed, Oldham became associated with the border patrol, from which the FBI was horn. He carries several $ears on his body from engagements with rlopo smugglers and cattle rustlers in I he border area.Later, becoming interested in the newspaper business, Oldham worked on many newspapers throughout the country,' spending about 20 years on periodicals in California.
