Ashton PioneersFete Anniversary!ASHTON, Feb. 15. (Special)—Mr. a.*a! Mrs. B. L. Sheridan cejebrated their fiftieth wedding anniversary on Thursday, |Feb. 11. This couple are pioneer citizens of this community. Mr. Sheridan was bcm at Amsterdam, LaCrcss county. Wis., on March 2J, 1857, and Mrs. Luanda Young-Sheridan on April 27, 1858, inVernon county, near Caahton, Wis. They *r maturity as friends, schoolmates and sweethearts. They filed on land inTetonka township, Spink county, in 1880. and were married at Clyde in a sod house the home of Mrs. Sheridan's parents, on February 11, 1882. They proved up on their homesteads and continued to live on their land, which they still own andwhich is considered to be one of thetest fenced farms near here. Four chil-this union. Mrs. T. D.Young, who died in adult years, Mrs r. G, Haven of Brentford, Robert and Jesse of Ashton. They have six grand-chil-dren and two great-grandchildren. They moved to the city of Ashton in 1908.On Thursday evening, about fifty of their friends gathered at their home and gave them a most pleasant surprise. Cards and games were enjoyed for some time. Mrs. F. W. Hawkins gave a short reading and Mrs. H. G. Fletcher read a summary of the situation, while W. H. McCauley, with several well chosen remarks, piesented the honored couple with a gold coin as a memento of the occasion from their friends.A lunch was brought in by the uninvited guests, which was fittingly finished with a beautiful golden wedding ; cake, surmounted by a tiny bride and ,groom. .■ W
