She gave her age as twenty-live birthplace, Canada; residence. Shelter Is land, and said she was the daughter o Edwin H. Higley (or Higby). The recon further stated that she was divorced.But Mr. Turner, who was at the Repub lican Club to-night, said, in response to :question over the telephone, that his bride’ name was Miss Winthrop.Raised Dogs in Basement.Mr. Turner’s ward, having her resident at different times either in his mansioi at 57 Remsen street, Brooklyn, or a “Never Never Land,” his estate on Shelte Island, was known as Miss Winthrop. Shlt;conducted in the basement of the Itemsei street house an extensive business of rais ing prize dogs. But, so far as known neither in her business nor social circle; was she known as Miss Higley. The rec ord of her divorced condition was also ; new fact to some.The present residence of the bride, whlt; by her marriage becomes one of tin wealthiest women in New York, was no learned to-night. Mr. Turner is stop ping at the Republican Club, where blt; frequently lived before his marriage.The ceremony was performed in Green wich by the Rev. H. B. Alley. The datlt; of the license, January 16, four days before the ceremony, indicated that arrange ments had been made in advance. Thlt; bridegroom’s age is given as flfty-flvlt; years.Turner Thrice Married.Mr. Turner was married twice befonand twice divorced. He comes of a familjwhich has given society leaders to NewYork. His first wife was Emilie R. Barnesdaughter of a Brooklyn publisher. Tliejwere married in 1882, and the wife obtained a divorce ten years later. MrsJames Bloomfield, wife of one of Turner’s friends, was mentioned in the suit.About a year later Mr. Turner was mar ried to Maude May, daughter of a hoarding Uouse proprietor In Manhattan.
