HARPERVILLE,Mr, Jas. Langley, of the C.P.R. •hops, Winnipeg, has returned to his home for the winter. Welcome home.This community was delighted with a visit from Misses Jessie Currie and Mary Emms and Angus Currie, of Argyle, last week. Come one, come all, come often, say ^e.We were just contemplating writing out a notice of lost, strayed or stolen for insertion in The Argus when the subject of our anxiety returned to his native land. Look out next time, boy, close shave.The almost forgotten sound of merry wedding-bells was heard in this district lately, the occasion being the marriage of Mr. Elms Nunn of this place to Mrs. Shannon, of St. Laurent. The knot, was tied by Rev. Father Camper. We wish the happy couple all possible joy through life.| The regular meeting of the Bluff ! Island Mutual Improvement Society was held, in the school house on theevening of Wednesday, Feb, 6. A large number were present and spent an enjoyable time in listening, tp a w@lL rendered .programme given by the members of the society, The great ev«mt of the evening, however, was the debate, “Resolved that the miser docs more injury to society than the spendthrift. * Messrs. G. Ager and B, Langley brought their bestpowers to bear on the affirmative, while the negative received its share of attention from Messrs. A, D, Sproule and H. Harper. After the judges, Messrs. P. Harper and D. Henry, had duly considered the numerous arguments brought forward they announced their decision in favor of the affirmative.
