HiM,Sunday evening it begun to be noised abroad that some naughty girl was going .to elope with her lover and get married. The rumor, however, was not given much credit until about meeting time. The next morning, asthe good people were gathering at the ehureli, the Rev, John Tansy armedwith a young lady was seen traveling rapidly in the direction of Silas Enoc’s residence. The pastoral party said they arrived half an hour late, found the intended bride pale and trembling anilthe would be groom nbopt as despondent as widowers ever look “What’sthe trouble now?” asked the preacher. Silas Enoe took it upon himself to explain that, his friend failed to get license. “What are you going to do?” asked the reverend gentleman. “Tryagain !” said the woulb-be husband. Soon after, the man of sermons and ceremonies was seen traveling toward the church with his lady friend about as happily as he iiad gone to Mr. Enoc’s a few minutes before. A second attempt was made. Friends, who knew the young lady was old enough to marry without the parents’ consent, volunteered to get the necessary papers, and at 6 p. m the Rev. Tansy was heard to say : “Join right bauds,” and soon after William Bennett and Mary Robbins j were pronounced man and wife. The happy pair have the best wishes ofLewie Lea.
