Hendryx, deputy county recorder, was jarred out of his reveries of figures and motes and bounds by a timid rap on the office door. Throwing open the portalshe found a pair of blushing and timid-appearing people—a maid and a man. Inquiring their wishes the genial recorder was apprised of the fact that his nocturnal visitors were on matrimony bent. The man in the case gave his numeGerald Seydel, and his occupation and residence as a dentist at Anamosa. .• he young woman was introduced as Miss Hazel McCormick, also of Anamosa. Dr. Sovdel announced that he had telephoned to the county clerk's office requesting provisions for his late arrival I at Marion and for the provision of a marriage license. J. Northrup, pastor of the Methodist church from his slumbers andhe agreed to arise and perform the marriage ceremony. The party then betook itself to the Methodist parsonage where the Anamosa people were made man and wife.
