Ind., was born near Baltimore, Md., in 1812. Her father was a soldier of the Revolutionary war. She moved with her parentsto Belmont county, Ohio, where in 1835, she married Dennis McMabon, who with four brothers were soldiers in the war of 1812 from beginning to end. Sometime after her marriage they moved to Jackson county, Indiana, where his death occurred June 23d, 1862.Mrs. Sarah Scott McMahon had two brothers, two sons and one son-in-law who were soldiers in the Civil war. One of those sons. E. S. McMahon, is now a resident of this (Bartholomew) county, Ogilville, Ind. Should war be declared with Spain Mrs. Sarah Scott McMahon would have nearly enough grandsons to form a company for the defense of their country and thus continue her family war record. Mrs. Sarah Scott McMahon is the mother of eleven children, seven of whom, I understand, are still living and whose combined weight is fifteen hundred pounds. Mrs. Sarah Scott McMahon is declining in health very fast, and being very fleshy it is nearly impossible for her to get around. What a pleasure it is to have these honorable pioneers among us.The above clipping was handed us for publication by Joe Williams. It was nrinted in an Indiana paper in 1898. Mrs. McMahon died about 11 years ago. She was the mother of Mr. Williams' wife, and of O. C. McMahon of this city. The Scotts were Scotch people, the McMahons. Irish. The flint-lock whichO. C. McMahon’s grandsire used in defense of Baltimore is now in Hutchinson, Kansas, being owned by a member of a branch of the family living there.CIRCUIT COURT.February Term Will Convene Next Monday. The February term of the Jackson Circuit Court will convene next Monday.
