Taylor-Dawson vows pledged in church ritesThe Greenfield Baptist Church in Hammond was the setting Saturday December 18 for the wedding of Miss June Marie Dawson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Fleming Green of Hammond, and Lonnie Ray Taylor, Jr. son of Mr. and Mrs. Lonnie R. Taylor, Sr. of Hammond.Officiating at the 3 p.m. ceremony was Rev. Nolan Clayton. Ms. Marilyn Youngblood played the organ while singing “We’ve Only Just Begun and The Lord’s Prayer, also Turn Around” was sang by Mrs. Lucille Morris, a cousin of the bride.The bride, given in marriage by her uncle, Mr. Alfred Dawson, wore a traditional gown of white chiffon, with long puffed sleeves that fell in ruffled cuffs. The gown was trimmed in lace on the neck, sleeves, bodice, hemline and train. The bride’s shoulder-length veil was made of chiffon and trimmed with matching lace. She carried a bouquet of whitz carnations and baby breath.Miss Brenda Varnado was maid of honor, while Mrs. Cynthia Moore sister of the groom served as matron of honor.Bridesmaids included, Anita James, cousin of the bride, Louise Dunn, Erma Banks, Pearl Taylor, and Ernestine Davis. They were attired in melon and green floor length gowns made of polysatin, tailored by Mrs. J. Lee of Lee’s Fabrics in Ponchatouia. The bodice featured a square-shaped neckline designed in floral green voille and long puffed sleeves with ruffled cuffs. The gown was completed by a draped skirt that fell gracefully from the bodice. Each carried a white rose with ribbons of green and melon.Leo Moore, Jr. served as best man, while the groomsmen included Herley Dean. Lee Brumfield. Steve Brumfield, Marty Thorn. Abraham Daniels, and Ronnie James.Anna Green and Tanya Turner served as Flower girls, Nicky Wilson, the ringbearer. and LeTroy Lee carriedMrs. Lonnie Ray Taylorthe bride’s train. Ushers were Warren Pitts, brother of the bride, Brett Starwood, Olson Taylor, and Kelvin Taylor.
