DAY-DOUD WEDDING.Delightful Occasion in Historic Old Home in Town of HumeThe original Doud home in Humewas the scene of a lovely wedding Dec. 22d when in the company of 75 Jenny Lynde pattern of festoons of i figreen, joining two wedding bells, hand painted by Sara Margaret Haley of Java. The dishes in use for the tablewit9had been in three generations and* *were in a perfect state of preserva- fj tion, being lavender and green. The i Cinvited friends, Eleanor Blanche, eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Orrin Squire Doud, became the bride of Charles Friend Day of Java, N. Y.At two o'clock the strains of Men-« *delssohn’s Wedding March played by9Emeroy Pepkham of Pike, announcedthe arrival of the wedding party. Rev.* *Edward Roberts of Black Creek came first in company with the groom. Then followed the bride, leaning on the arm of her father. Next camesmilax and crepe paper finished, the decorations for this room.The guests of honor at the brides’table were Geo. H. Bandfield of Hins-si*dale, grandfather of the bride, and* • ■ !Mrs. Almira Stone Doud, who in her J 90th year, still retains her health and mind.tiwThe bride was a graduate of Pike 1 Seminary in 1907 and of the Arcade j b Teachers’ Training Class in 1908. She is an accomplished young lady. The picture of the three generations hanging on the walls is the portrait work of the gifted resident artist, Hon. Carlos Stebbins. The portrait of Mr. and Mrs Phillip Griggs, great, great grandparents of the bride, deserve special mention as they were among the pioneer settlers .of the county, coming from the East. Her maiden name was Rebecca Kane Griggs and she was a great favorite with the Indians, who were charmed by har beautiful voice and it’s said they loved to take refuge and shelter at her fireside and were frequent visitors there, to warm and rest, going and coining at will without word or sign.The bride and groom received hearty congratulations after which they crossed the road to the bride’s home where a five course dinner was served under the direction of Mrs. JamesStoutenburg. 11The decorations throughout the• * 'A ;house, excepting the dining room, were holly and mistletoe in profusion. The dining room where the bride’s table was placed was. decorated with smilax, lavender crepe paper being used to carry out the color scheme of lavender and green. Covers were laid for ten at this table. The place cards were lover knots of lavender andSyracuse, with Wm. Carlos Doud.Then followed the bridesmaids, Mar-%jorie Doud and Alma Day of Java, sisters of the bride and groom.The bride was beautiful in a gown of white messaline over silk, entrain,with wedding veil of point de sprit» ■caught in place with orange blossoms. She carried a huge bouquet of bride’stroses.» • 1 • • •The bridesmaids were beautiful in' ( -t t .gowns of pale blue crepe de chine. The bridal party presented a pretty appearance as they stood beneath an arch of ground pine. The house wasr »tastefully decorated throughout with ground pine.This old home where the wedding took place has always been the homlt;2and hia friends are only numbered by his acquaintances.. The presents were numerous and beautiful, attesting the high esteem in which the popular couple are held.iAmong the gifts was a deed of a j farm from the groom’s father, Hyman ! ^ Day of Java, on which in the spring j the young couple will erect a handsome, modern home. -They carry with them the beat wishes of a host of friends.The guests included Mr. and Mrs. Hyman B. Day, Alma Belle Day, Frank A. Bauman, Mr. and Mrs. J.E. Westover, Mr. and Mrs. Rutherford Hudson and daughter, Helen, SaraM., and Ellen Haley of Java, N Y., Geh. Bandfield, Herbert-Tn.
