Lillis, 77, head of the Kansas City Diocese of the Catholic church since T913,-died early today.When Bishop Liilis celebrated hts golden anniversary . in the priesthood three years ago he was appointed by Pope Pius as assistant at the pontifical throne. -He died at 4:03 a. m. at his home.Death was due to a heavy cold' aggravated by myocardosis, which-causes the heart muscles to degenerate. Oxygen, had been adminis lercd during the day and night.Bishop Lillis was taken ill several days ago and took a critical turn Wednesday, 1-Ic had been active in his duties as recently as Christmas Day.
