FAIR AND UNFAIR.A very pretty 1 white wedding ’ was celebrated at Archer Street Wesleyan Chnrch, on Tuesday, December 20, when Mr. Sydney Albert Vanes, M.A., of Prince Alfred College, Kent Town, was married 10 Miss Catherine Drew, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Drew, of Medindie. The ceremony was performed at 2 o’clock by the Rev. Thomas Lloyd, asdsted by the Rev. J. Cowper-thwaite, B.A., pastor of the church, in the presence of a large number of guests and friends of the bride and bridegroom. Usually at a wedding men-foik are notice tble by their absence, but on this occasion there were almost as many of the sterner sex present as there were ladies. Punctually at 2 o’clock the bride arrived at the church, and walked slowly up the aisle leaning on the arm of her father, who gave her away. The bridal costume was of richest ivory white brocade with yoke top and rucked sleeves of white chiffon and lace; the bridal veil handsomely embroidered in filoselle and worn over a coronet of orange blossom. A large bouquet of white carnations, orchids, and fern completed the costume. The bride was attended by three bridesmaid?, her two sisters beiDg first and third and Miss Phoebe Chappie second. The gowns were (as the term 4 white wedding ’ implies) all alike, and w» re of soft white book muslin and valenciennes lace, white leghorn hats with white chiffon crowns and large plumes. Their flowers gave just the touch of color to 6tt off the dresses and were short crooks wreathed with asparagus and maiden hair fern and pale pink carnations. The church was very artistically decorated with white flowers and pot plants and long streamers of white ribbon. The mother of the bride wore a dress of rich black moire; relieved with white chiffon and pretty pink bonnet. Among the guests present Quiz noted : —Mrs. John Drew (in black brocade and vest of pleated white chiffon, white chiffon and steel bonnet with white ostrich tips) and Mr. Drew, Mr. John Hill, Mrs John HilJ, pale floral mnslin trimmed with white watered ribbon and chiffon, gold and pale blue bonnet; Miss Hill, white lawn and lace over pale green, black and white crinoline straw hat; Miss May Hill, white coral pink, pink straw hat trimmed with white chiffon and feathers ; Mr. Richard Martin ; Mrs. Richard Martin, black checked silk grenadine, trimmed with lace aod jet, small jet bonnet with pink roses; Miss Martin, string colored grenadine, yellow 8«raw hat with yellow and white chiffon; Mr. F. Chappie ; Mrs. Chappie, heliotrope striped silk, black and heliotrope bonnet; Misses Brown, pale grey and pink ; Mrs. Burford, handsome silk open striped grenadine over heliotrope silk, bonnet to match ; Miss Burford, white and checked check grenadine, deep white satin collar and white chiffon hat; Mr. Burford ; Miss Dreyer, floral muslin and Maltese lace, tun-burnt straw bat with black chiffon and ostrich tips; Mr. W. R. Bayley ; Mr. Andrew Lou tit ; Mrs. Andrew Loutit, white book muslin and lace, white chiffon hat and ostrich feathers ; Mr. James Marshall ; Mias Marshall, string-colored Swiss muslin, with belt and collar of deep orange velvet; Mrs. Mofflin, heliotrope figured muslin and lace, black chip hat; Miss Ruby Mofflin, French muslin embroidered robe over pink, Bnd pink rough straw bat; Miss Kugelmann, white lawn, white bat with eau-de-nil ribbon and clusters of fig leaves and herries; Mr. George Crase; Mrs. Crase, black silk and cream guipure, pale pink straw bonnet; Mr. Fred. Sharland ; Mrs. Shar-land, black grenadine over petnuia silk ; Mr. Raymond Birks; Mrs. Raymond Birks, black silk and jet, black hat with clusters of pink roses ; Mr.W. Davidson; Miss Davidson, brown ottoman silk and cream guipure lace, gold and brown bonnet; Mr. Norton; Mrs. Norton, heliotrope and white checked taffeta, white hat; and Miss Mary Barker, white muslin and grey and pink hat.
