MRS. KARL GRAHAM KIRKMAN, JR.Kirkman-Gaston Vows SaidIn Methodist Chapel RitesMiss Rebecca Ann Gaston, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Maury Gaston, 1100 East Broad Street, and Karl Kirkman, Jr., were married Saturday afternoon in a 4 o’clock chapel ceremony at Broad Street Methodist Church. The couple pledged their vows to Rev. Walter Lee Lanier and Dr. John M. Sykes.Following a reception at the Statesville County Club, Mr. and Mrs. Karl Graham Kirkman,Jr., left for a wedding trip to the mountains of western North Carolina and Tennessee. Upon return, the couple will reside at Monticello Apartments, 620 Anson Street, Winston-Salem.Mrs. Harold Wilson was at the organ for a 20-minute program of wedding music. Her selections included the '’Pastoral Symphony/' played during the ceremony, “Near The Sea, “Nuptial Song,” “Meditation and “Nocturne.Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a gown of candlelight, silk-faced peau de soie, fashioned with long sleeves and a bell skirt. The bodice was detailed with a scoop neckline, trimmed in seed pearls. A pearl-trimmed Dior bow, centered with a single, fabric rose, held her pure silk veil of French illusion, which met a detachable chapel train attached at the waist by an Obi sash. She carried an old-fashioned bouquet of white roses and valley lilies.Mrs. Jack B. Borders of At-lln, all of Statesville.Mrs. Gaston chose for her daughter’s wedding a street-length, emerald green silk and worsted dress with sweetheart neckline and three-quarter length sleeves. A matching hat of cocorded and veiling and a gardenia corsage completed her outfit. The bridegroom's mother wore a creme-beige silk alpaca dress with shaped bell skirt and front flat panel. She accented her attire with matching accessories and a bronze cybidium orchid corsage.The bride, wfoo is teaching fourth grade at Sherwood Forest Elementary School in Winston-Salem, is a graduate of Salem College, where she received an A. B. degree in Spanish. A senior at Wake Forest College in Winston-Salem, the bride is affiliated with Pi Kappa Alphasocial fraternity.The country dub reception, following the ceremony, wasgiven by the bride’s parents. Guests were greeted by Mr. and Mrs. Fred Burch, Jr., and the receiving line was composed of the bridal couple, their parents and the wedding party.Mrs. James Harren completed cutting of the cake, and the guest register was kept by Mr. and Mrs. Fred Slane, Jr.Wadding BreakfastBouquets of red carnations were used to decorate tables for a wedding breakfast honoring the bridal pair and their wedding party.
