The double ring ceremony was performed by the Rev. John Sunders of Macon, Georgia, formerly of Radford.The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Francis of Radford. The groomThe Snowville Homemaker's Club enjoyed a Christmas, dinner at the home of Mrs. Albert. Covey|: on December 14.. Ten members, two guests and twochildren were present.Aft^t* the dinner a business meeting was held. Mrs. Jason Quesenberry read the 23rd psalm, and Mrs. Tom Covey led thj| prayer. The club creed was said in unison.Mrs; Lancaster and Mrs. Albert Covey showed dresses they had made for the *’adopted” patients at Marion. Mrs. Tom Covey read the list of program topics fbr 1872.Mrs, Albert covey discussed cheering up shut-ins. She stated that invalids, the aged and sometimes mothers and small children were shut-ins. They are In homes, hospitals and nursing homes. One should visit them, take food or -small gifts, be cheerful, just talk or read to them. Sometimes one can do housework or write letters for them.Reading*, certificates wereis the son of Mr. and Mrs, Ellis Johnston Howell of Roanoke, The ceremony was performed in a setting of candelabra, palms and White poinsettias,Mrs. Ann Adams presented a program of traditional wedding music. Mrs. Ralph Cox, soloist,sang; “Whither Thou Goest,” ■-«Ah, Sweet Mystery of Life” and The Lord’s Prayer.”Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a formal gown of Ivory delustre satin. Re-embroidered Alencon lace etched the high neckline, superimposed the empire bodice and bishop sleeves. Cascading lace entered the A-line skirt and the chapel train was edged with scalloped lace. Her train length yell df illusion was held by a peau loop and pearl trimmed lace petals. She carried a White Bible with white eymbid-ium orchids, roses and stephan-otis.Mrs. Anthony Jordon Mullins of Radford was matron of honor. She wore a floor length gown, fashioned with a light turquoise chiffon bodice. Ivory venlse lace laced with turquoise satin ribbon .accented the neckline and bishop sleeves. The.slim skirt was of deep turquoise crepe, bowed at the waistline. She wore a matching crepe bow and loop headress with triple veiling and carried , a cascade of holly and carnations tied with ivory velvet ribbon.Bridesmaids were Mrs.Bruce Barton Bragg, Blacksburg; Mrs. Ken Wiant, Pittsburgh, Pa.; Miss Linda Bethel James, Arlington; and Miss Lois Randolph Siegfried, cousin of the bride, Richmond. Their dresses, headpieces andRoanoke; George Givens Wil-llamson,' cpUsin of the groom,Buchanan.The bride’s 'mother wore awit!awarded to Mrs. Julia Gullb—^fteWers were identical to those Mrs. Janet Shelton, Mrs. Vic- of the honor attendant,tor Graham and Mrs. Tom Covey.;-Those present were; Mrs. Zola Lancaster, Mrs. Julia Guill, Mrs; janice Shlrah, Mrs. Buford Shelburne, Mrs. Victor Graham, Mrs. Albert, Covey,Mr. Ellis Johnston Howell was his son’s best man, ushers were Robert Norris Howell, brother of the groom, of Roanoke; Charles Robert Cooper, ofblue crepe dress with t^ue accessories and a white eytobld-lum orchid corsage.The mother of the groom wore a pink chiffon dress with pink' accessories. Her corsage was a white cymbidium orchid.The grandmother of the bride was attired in a dress of blue lace with a white cymbidium orchid corsage.Following the ceremony, the bride’s parents entertained with a reception In the church social hall,Mrs, A.S. Austin, grand- „ mother of the bride, introduced the guests to the receiving line. Mrs. John Ray Cole, cousin of the bride, at the guest book, Mrs. John W, Goodrich and Mrs. Edward G. Pennington cut the wedding cake; Miss Judy Cox, Miss Debbie Austin, Miss ponna Austin, all of Radford and Mrs. Bobby Lockleas of Columbia, South Carolina, cousins of the bride poured punch. Miss Ardath Gray, Miss Cathy Stewart, Miss patsy Perdue, all of Roanoke, and Mrs. Lisa Peery, cousin of the groom, of Farmville were floating hostesses. Greg Austin distributed the rice bags.For traveling the bride wore a blue wool dress with matching accessories and a beige cape with the orchids lifted from her bouquet.After asouthern wedding trip,the couple will reside at 146 Clubhouse Drive, Roanoke, Virginia.The bride is a graduate of , Radford College where she was a member of the Alpha Sigma Tau Sorority, She Is employed by the Roanoke County School System.
