An Important Decision.LaBt Saturday morning Judge Thor-nell decided the case of C. W. Menefee v. C. P. Chesley in favor of the defendant. The facts are as follows: In February 1893 the defendant left bis wife. That during the month he notified Mr. Menefee not to sell anything to his wife on his credit. That during the month of June, July, and August 1893 Mrs. Chesley bought groceries from Mr. Menefee. That Mr. Menefee brought suit against Mr. and Mrs. Chesley for this bill $77.75 before T. R. Wallace justice of the peace. That the justice decided against the defendant, C. P. Chesley, from this decision he appealed to the district court. The court holds that Mr. Chesley was notifiable under the common law and also that Mr. Chesley is not now a member of the family of Mrs. Chesley; and hence he would not come under that section of the statute which provides that the property of both huB-band and wife is liable for family expenses. _A Bloodless Afalr.
