MR. AND MRS. ZELL TRACY LOSE THEIR HOME ON EAST WASHINGTON STREETBetween 8:00 and 9:00 o’clock Sunday morning the residence of Mr. and Mrs. Zell Tracy, on East Washington street was discovered on fire by the neighbors and before the fire department arrived on the scene the fire had gained such headway that all the firemen could do was to confine the flames and keep them wrom spreading to adjoining buildings. As it was the home is almost a total wreck, nothing remaining of any value but the foundation. The prompt and hearty response of the neighbors saved a great deal of the furniture, but the loss on this score cannot be estimated until an inventory has been taken. A great deal of clothing, bed clothing blankets, linens, books, etc, were destroyed in the upper story. The building was insured for $1,700 and the household goods for $600.The unfortunate part of the fire lies in the fact that the building cannot be replaced, owing to the advanced prices on all building material, for less than $3,500. Mr. and Mrs. Tracy at this time are unable to form any plans for the future as to rebuilding, but will be compelled to determine this feature later on. Through the agency of kind friends they were enabled to secure the McCord house on East Washington street, to which place they removed their furnitureSunday afternoon. In this connection Mr. and Mrs. Tracy wish to thank the friends and neighbors who so heroically came to their aid and assistance in helping save their property and also for taking them in out of the cold to warmth and cheer, and for the many expressions of sympathy extended. They also thank the fire department for their effort against great odds, feeling that they did all within their power to save the building. Mr. and Mrs.Tracy also hope at some time in some way, to be able to repay the citizens of Attica for all this kindness.
