Announcement of the engage ment and approaching marriage of Miss Mamie Lee Hayden of A. and M. College, the first home demon stration agent of Hunt county, has been received here. Miss Hayden is to be married to W. T. Carter of the experiment station, at the home of Miss Mildred Horton in Dallas, Wednesday, Dec. 20 at 10:30 o'clock. Miss Hayden resigned as home demonstration agent of Hunt coun ty to accept a place as district agent at A. and M. College a posi tion she held for a number of years. Later she became one of the spec ial agents and for the past few years has been working in the ca pacity of standardization special ist. She has many friends in Green ville and Hunt county. The following is a report of the announcement party given Miss Hayden at A. and M. College. Announcing the approaching mar riage of Miss Mamie Lee Hayden, of the extension service, to W. T. Carter of the experiment station, Miss Mildred Horton, state home demonstration agent, entertained Monday with a luncheon of 17 cov ers at Mrs. M. B. Parker's. The bride to be, dressed in a crepe of crushed berry trimmed with a girdle and flower of Kinzes blue, received with Miss Herion, who wore a fuschia colored gown with a high neck and shoulder flow ers of deeper shades of red. The table decorations were white roses, carnations, chrysanthemums and maiden hair fern, massed in a great bowl in the center with silver ribbon and small bunches of flow ers running to the ends and sides and corners of the table giving the effect of a bride’s shower bouquet Candies in white dresden candile'ls bra lighted the table, white dres den compotes held nuts and olives. Place cards for the guests were small daintily wrapped packages tied with silver ribbon, which when opened disclosed a wedding ring at tached to a card with a sentence written on it. At Miss Horton’s re quest the guest at the right of Miss Hayden read her sentence follow ed by each guest in turn winding up with Miss Hayden whose sen tence completed the announcement that Dec. 20 is to be the wedding date. The completes ran: “It started in Waco Most three years ago They met. “And where are you from?” she said. “College Station,” with a raise of his head. And she, coyly. “So am I.” Ting-a-ling, ting-a-ling, ting-a ling, ting-a-ling-ling! How her telephone did ring and ring! First it was movies. Then cheese and picnics galore. And on and on as lovers go! 'Til a diamond ring in a year or Today there's a ring for each of you. But another ring soon to be giv en, By Nick to Miss Mamie Lee December 20, 1933. At the close of the luncheon Mrs. Maggie W. Barry read one of Eli zabeth Barrett Browning's Sonnets to the Portuguese written by Mrs. Browning to her husband. Speaking briefly on love lyrics in the Eng lish language Mrs. Barry pointed out that of the two most beautiful love songs in poetry one was writ ten by a wife to her husband the other by a husband to his wife.
