No Pools Like Old Pools.It seems that true love does not always run smooth, especially when tt attacks those in the sere ami yellow leaf in Clinton county. Thomas Spurgeon apd Mrs. Ellen Rex, widow of the late Owen Rex* who committed suicidje, were licensed to wed and secured the services of Rev. J A. Maxwel). of Mulberry. The would-be grootq and minister appeared at the Rex homestead and were met by a broad shouldered, two, fisted son of Mrs. Re*, who forbade the bans and no amount of persuasion on the part of Spurgeon or Rev. Maxwell could change his purpose and Spurgeon returned to his home in Hillisburg. The following day Mrs. Rex started for Hillisburg t meet Spurgeon and in jumping from the train met with a serious injury and was taken to Spurgeon's home where she is now domiciled. Spurgeon holds to his marriage license and he and Mrs. Rex sweaf by the great horned toad that they will wed in spite of all opposition.
