HIGHFIELD • SHUMSKIRobertson Memorial UnitedChurch, 648 Burrows Ave., Winnipeg, Man., was the setting of a double ring ceremony on Saturday, October 13th, 1973 at 1:30 p.m., when Rev. M.L. Wray, united in marriage Ruth, youngest daughter nf Mr and Mrs Nicholas Shumskiof Winnipeg with Lester Wayne Highfield, son of Mr. and Mrs. Norman Highfield of Grandview, Man. The bride given in marriage byher father wore a full-length gown of pure silk lagoda and Venice applique lace. The bodice featured amandarin neckline and full lengthsleeves. The lace appliques adorned the bodice, neckline and ruffled cuffs. The skirt had two rows of matching lace appliques to the hem line. Her lace trimmed cathedral train fell softly from the waist and she wore a floral cluster of daisies in her hair which held a two tier silk illusion veil. She carried a bou-auet of vellow sweetheart roses andwhite Baby breath. ,The matron of honor, Miss Karen Highfield, sister of the groom and bridesmaid, Miss Beverley Szczesny, friend of the bride wore identicalgowns of chiffon and velvet in autumn shades of orange and yellow. They carried bouquets of yellow carnations tinted orange with oakleaves. They also wore orange flowers in their hair.,The flower girl, Miss Sandra Pan-kiw, wore a yellow dress trimmedwith orange velvet. sThe best man was David Shumski brother of the bride. The groomand best men wore identical tuxedos of three tone grey with black collar and orange ruffled shirts. Edwin Bilous was their ring-bearer and wore black tuxedo with yellow shirt. The usher was Ronald Shum-iid.The mother of the bride wore a purple chic empire style floor length gown in polyester crimp, douhle knit, and a corsage of yellow sweetheart roses.The mother of the groom wore a sleeveless floor length gown of blue polyester with white trim and a corsage of pink sweetheart roses.Following the ceremony a reception and dance was held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Morris Pan-kiw. The table was centred with a beautiful four-tiered wedding cake made and decorated by the groom’s mother.
