WeddOtfCROSSLEY - PORATHMargaret's Roman CatholicChurch was the scenecandlelight service November 30that 5 p.m., when Caroline Lara Por-ath and Bruce Elroy Crossley exchanged marriage vows in a double ring ceremony conducted by Father Verhulst. Conrad and Eric Porathacted as altarboys.Caroline, given in marriage by her if Mr. and Mrs. Lars Porath, and Jruce is the eldest son of Mr. and fis. Elmer Crossley.Oarolin, given in marriage by her father, was radiant in a gown of white organza over net, with a nylon underskirt. The gown featured empire waist, a stand up collar of accordian pleated nylon and lace and long puffed sleeves. The bodice, sleeves and trains were trimmedwith scalloped lace, which also trimmed her crescent peak headdress and full length veil. She carried a cascade drop of mauve orchids, with white stephanotis and ivy. Her jewellery was gold heart shaped earrings with pearl centres. Sheilso wore her mother’s rhinestonebraceletHer maid of honour was hersister Deborah, and bridesmaid was ■Gail Crossley, sister-in-law of the groom. The two bridal attendants wore identical gowns of fusehia embossed polyester. They wore gold heart shaped lockets, and carried colonial bouquets of white and yellow daisies.IiOrelie, youngest sister of the bride acted as flower girl and wore a gown of white polyester crepe with embroidered flowers of fus-chia. She wore a band of daisies her hair. *»Mr. Brad Morran, friend of the groom, acted as best man. The groom’s other attendant was his brother Rick. Keith Morran and IanGrexton, cousin of the groom, ushered the guests. The men were allattired in dark blue rider tuxedos with white ruffled shirts and black bow ties. They wore white boutonnieres. •The mother of the bride chose an aqua fortrel gown, with white embroidered bodice, ruffled neckline and long full sleeves with ruffled cuffs. She wore a corsageof pink roses.The mother of the groom wore a flowered chiffon gown in tones of blue, mauve and green, with ruffles around the neckline and bodicefront. Her corsageroses.Also present were the bride’s two grandmothers, Mrs. Carriere of Roblin and Mrs. Porath of Winnipeg; and the groom’s grandmother, Mrs. Sinclair of Winnipeg and grandfather Mr. W. Crossley of Grandview.Following the ceremony, a wedding supper for 65 was held at the G.A.C.C. Hall. Friends of the bride* W- -served the guests. The head table, decorated with hot pink and white streamers and bells, was centred by a three tier wedding cake tastefully decorated with pink roses and flanked by white tapers.Brad Morran acted as master of ceremonies and Mr. Carl Porath asked the blessing. Mr. NelsonCockerill, uncle of the bride proposed the toast, ably responded to by the groom.Trudy and Conrad Porath looked after the guest book and gifts.A dance followed, with supplied by the Grandview estra.For going away, the bride wore a two piece suit of pale blue fortrel knit with a cardigan top andlong skirt and a white jersey halter top. The groom wore brown checked pants, with co-ordinating shirtand jacket.After a short honeymoon to Banff and other points west, the happy couple will reside at GilbertPlains.Out of town guests were from Winnipeg, Regina, Neepawa, Birch River, Falcon Lake, Oak Bluff, Eric-son, Ashern, Togo, Snow Lake, Roblin, Dauphin and Gilbert Plains.Prior to her marriage, Caroline was honored at a miscellaneousshower held on November 15th in the Roman Catholic Church basement. 1Collegiate Chatterby Connie ClarkWhat a weekend! The Grandview girl’s volleyball team travelled to Steinoack for the provincial volleyball playoffs, but were defeated, winning only two games out of six games. The Grandview boy’s team travelled to Gimli for their provincial playoffs. The boys found themselves in the final game with Manitou. Unfortunately, Grandview was defeated, ’t *-.*:Grandview hosted a Junior Volleyball Tournament on the weekend, There were ten girls’ teams and nine boys’ teams which participated. Minnitonas won the tournament for the girls. There was a three way tie in the boys’ section for championship. The teams were the Grandview A team, the Roblin A team and Minnitonas.Two school floats were entered in the Santa Claus Parade on December 7. Along with the Student Council float, there was also a New Tradition float. The reason why there were so few New Tradition members in the parade was because of the two volleyball tournaments which a great number of the girls had to participate in.I would like to remind everyone about the Troubador Concert. Theconcert commences at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, December 12 in the Elementary auditoruim. If you have not bought a ticket for the concert, you may pay at the school Thursday evening. The price to see the Troubadors plus the New Tradition is only $1. See you there!
