(Volga-Special)Banks Study club to meet Dec. 14HAWKEYE (Special) — Banks Study club will meet at 1:30 p.m. Dee. 14 at the home of Mrs. BettyOelweinitesassist at partyat IndependenceMrs. Harvey Love, Mrs. Richard Hansen, Mrs. Cora Grummitt, Alvina Harms and Elsie Walker, members of the Veterans of Foreign Wars auxiliary, spent Wednesday in Independence where they assisted at the Veterans Christmas party at the Mental Health Institute.The local auxiliary furnished 12 dozen edokies.Other groups helping were the American Legion auxiliary, Blue Star Mothers and the Amvets auxiliary.Games were played and entertainment was provided by Independence High school pupils.Pie and ice cream were served following games and each veteran received a sack filledwith fruit, candy, gum and cookies.Christmas carols were sung by the groups.Materials and clothing valued at $150 were delivered to the MHI from the local auxiliary and the Woman’s Relief Corps.Sacred Heart Rosary Group I reports gatheringsMrs. Francis Weber entertained members of Sacred Heart Rosary Society group I at the home of Mrs. John Sell Wednesday evening.The business meeting was opened by prayer lead by Mrs. Joe Wingert, president.Group projects were reported and it was announced that Ed Joyce, Oelwein, was the winner of the afghan awarded by the
