WEDDINGAiming - VasrudeA pretty fall wedding of interest to Gull Lake, Sask, anddistrict was solemnized in the Knox United Church, Wednesday, Nov. 2, when Margaret Vivian Vasrude, only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. O. Vasrude, White-law, exchanged marriage vows with Kenneth W. Anning, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Anning Sr. of Simmie, Sask Rev. W. E. Bannerman officiated at the ceremony in the presence of relatives and friends.Lohengrin’s Wedding March was played by Miss Betty Joy Logan, who also accompanied Mrs. Helen Herzog and Miss Virginia Ruschowski, who sang, “The Sunshine of Your Smile”, during the signing of the register and while the happy couple left the church.The lovely bride was given in marriage by Dr. J. A. Matheson. She was attired in a floor-length gown of white net over satin.Her lace jacket featured lily-point sleeves and tapered back. Her finger-tip veil was held In place by a princess-style simulated pearl trim tiara. She carried a bouquet of red roses and stephanotis with a cascade of red roses. Her only jewelry was a two-strand pearl necklace with matching ear rings, a gift of the groom.The bride was attended by Mrs. Ethel Bradley, who was attired in a floor-length pink gown of net and lace over satin with a matching head-dress. She carried a bouquet of pink and white carnations.The groom was attended ,by Morley Johnston. The groom’s two youngest brothers, Bennie and Clair Anning, ushered at the church.Mrs. Vasrude, mother of the bride wore a navy blue ensemble with matching accessories, and a corsage of red roses.Following the ceremony, a reception for approximately 90 guests was held in the Masonic hall. Receiving guests were Mrs. O. Vasrude and Mrs. J. Anning Sr. Miss A. M. Eklund was in charge of the guest book.The three-tiered wedding cake which was adorned with a miniature bride and groom, was displayed on a serving table, covered with a lace cloth in front of the bridal table. The latter being decorated with candles and pink rose buds.Dr. A. G. Lowden, master of ceremonies, called on John Anning Jr. to propose the toast to the bride, after which the groom responded. Later telegrams of congratulations and best wishes were read.For going away, the bride changed to a navy blue benga-line dress with winter white accessories, and a corsage of red roses. Prior to leaving on their honeymoon to the U.S.A. the bridal couple were guests at the home of J. D. Busse, where a few social hours were spent with their friends.Out-of-town guests at the wedding were Mrs. D, Vasrude, Whitelaw; Mr. and Mrs. S. T. Gunderson, Swift Current; Clair Anning, Toronto; Miss A. M. Eklund, Swift Current; and Mr. and Mrs. O. T. Elmgren, Shaun-avon, Sask.
