200130th anniversaryNeil and Rose McDonnell of Uniontown observed their 50th wedding anniversary Nov. 4 with a family dinner given by their children at the Spruce Community Center.Neil McDonnell and the former Rose Jean Niel Garner were united in marriage on Nov. 3, 1951, at the Waverly Baptist Church in Roanoke, Va.Neil is the son of liie late William Harry McDonnell and Ida Trout McDonnell.Rose Jean is the daughter of the late DeeT. Niel and Viva Lingenfelter Niel.Neil spent three years in the U.S. Army in World War II. He worked for seven years as a welder in the con-1951slruction Reid in Arlington, Va., and retired in 1979 from the Florence Mining Co., where he was also employed as a welder.The McDonnells have five children: Priscilla Gardner Barrett of Voorliees, N.J., widow of the late Lawrence J. Barrett; Dee Gardner and wife, Linda Long Gardner, of Pine Flats; Gordon McDonnell and wife, Judy Learner McDonnell, of Cherry Tree; Janine McDonnell McCoy and husband, Marvin McCoy, of Uniontown; and Brenda McDonnell Clement and husband, William Clement, of Punxsutawney.They also have 12 grandchildren and seven greatgrandchildren.
