PAGE POURPink, White and Burgundy Flowers Accent Wedding of Lynn Carey and Dennis CharltonBy Mrs. Lyda KfftfPink gladioli and white pompons touched with burgundy and candelabra graced the altar of the Clarks Mills United Methodist Church on Saturday, Nov. 25, for the wedding of Miss Lynn Renee Carey, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jay Carev, Clarks Mills RD I, and Dennis Jay Charlton, son of Mr. and Mrs. William Charlton, 1204 Linden St., Cheswick.Rev. William Walker, church pastor, was assisted by the Rev. Walter Packard, of St. Michael’s Roman C a t h o li c Church, Greenville, in hearing the exchange of vows by the couple in the double ring service at 2:JO p.m.Miss Rhodn Hazcn, ClarksMills, provided an o r g a n prelude of traditional selections prior to the ceremony. Donovan Curtis, Greenville, friend of the bride’s family, wais soloist, offering “Whither Thou Goest,” “One Hand, One Heart,” and “The Lord’s Prayer” while the couple knelt at the altar.White VelvetThe bride, given in marriage by her father, chose a floor-Icngth empirc-waisted gown of white velvet, trimmed in Venise lace, with a high neckline and bishop sleeves. Her full-length illusion veil edged with mantilla lace was secured by a mantilla-s i y 1 e d coif trimmed in matching lace. She carried a colonial bouquet centered with pink and white carnations and surrounded by red roses, white carnations and baby’s breath. Burgundy velvet streamers cascaded from the arrangement.. A customary tradition was carried out as the bride’s “something old” was a gold ring which had belonged to her m a ternal great-grandmother the late Mrs. Ruetta Miller; “something new”, a heart-shaped gold necklace with three opals, a wedding gift from the groom; “something borrowed”, a Belgian lace handkerchief loaned by her mother; “something blue”, a garter trimmed \n lace; and a sixpence, brought back by the bride from her 1969 trip to England, in her shoe.• Miss Beth Whaley, Mercer RD 4, close friend of the bride,graced the role of maid ofhonor. Bridesmaids were MissMr. and Mrs. Dennis Jay CharltonBachman, Butler, the bride’s former college roommate. Miss Paula Jean Peters, Clarks Mills, appeared as flower girl.Burgundy Jumpers They were gowned in slipper-length frocks, created by Mrs. Richard Whaley, Mercer, friend of the bride, and Mrs. Eugene Jones, Stoneboro, bride’s aunt. Fashioned of burgundy velvet, the A-line jumpers featured empire waists and fitted bodices, while ruffles of velvet accented the shoulders. The maid of honor wore a pink satin blouse with a high neckline and bishop sleeves, while the three bridesmaids’ blouses were of white saiin. Their burgundy velvet Cameiot caps were made by the bride’s aunt, Mrs. Norine Miller,Green vi lie. Nosegays of red rose huds. oink carnations andbasket of pink carnations and red roses.David Charlton, Cheswick, attended his brother as best man. Ushers were Randall Carey, Clarks Mills, brother of the bride; William Charlton, Saxon-burg, brother of the groom and David Sweitzer, Sharon, the groom’s college roommate. The groom’s cousin, Aaron Beyer, Valencia, was ring bearer. They wore Oxford gray tuxedos with pearl gray vests, white shirts, and pin-striped trousers. For her daughter’s wedding,Mrs. Carey wore a turquo se blue dress with silver trim and gray accessories. Mrs. Chariton chose a plum colored dresswith matching accessories.Both outfits were accented with corsages of while carnations centered with tiny red rosebuds.
