Vernon, wore a floor length wedding gown of Chantilly lace and tulle over satin. The bodice featured a scalloped neckline of Chantilly lace covered with iridescent sequins and seed d;pearls. Her only jewelry was a dainty bracelet, a gift of the groom and tiny cultured pearl earrings. She carried a bouquet centered with an orchid, surrounded with wfhite spider mums and lily of the valley, tied with satin streamers in lover’s knots.Miss Rosemary McCowen. cousin and schoolmate of the bride, served as maid of honor. Mrs. Elizabeth Prior, sister of the groom and schoolmate of the bride, and Miss Harriet Ellen Rosenberger cousin of the groomImmediately following the ceremony, a large reception for approximately two hundred and fifty families was held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Lloyd McCowen in WaltonviUe. A dance was given in honor of the newlyweds, with music furnished by Tony Ceglinski and his band.The bride's table was centered with a beautiful four-tiered wedding cake which was baked and decorated by a neighbor, Mrs. Margaret Dees. The turquoise and white color scheme was carried out in the dance hall. Among those assisting at the reception were: Mrs. Donna Dugger, of Jacksonville. Florida, Mrs. Freda Lemons, of Sesser, sisters of the bride, Mrs. Betty McCowen. of WaltonviUe, Mrs. Kathleen McCowen, of Mt. Illinois attended the guest register.For a short wedding trip through southern Illinois, parts of Missouri and Kentucky, the bride changed to a turquoise wool dress and wore the orchid from her bridal bouquet.The new Mrs. Philip graduated from Waltonville Community High School with the class of 1958. They were identically dressed in tour-quoise pea de soie designed with rounded necklines and elbow length sleeves trimmed with tiny self bows. The full skirts featured a bouffant effect. The maid of honor carried a bouquet of bronze pom poms and the bridesmaid bouquet were fashioned identically of yellow pom poms.Little Miss Mary Beth McCowen of Waltonville. niece of the bride served as flower girl. She wore a dress of white organdy over turquoise taffeta with a large bow in the back. Her head-! piece was a white organdy hat with daisies attached. She carried a basket of white mums which she scattered at the altar. Little Miss Marv Susan Philp of Waltonville. sister of the groom, served as miniature bride. She was dressed floor length white silk organza dress with a taffeta cummerbund and a large bow m the backlinois University for a year and a term. The bride is now employed with the Jewel Tea Company, Inc. in this city.The groom graduated from Waltonville Community High School with the class of 1958.
