CHUISTMAfl shopping monopolized the attention of Joplin society folk 'last week to the exclusion of all other activities except regular club meetings and the work of preparation ror various charitable undertakings which willprecede the holidays.Merchants say the volume of early Christmas shopping is larger than ever before. As a result, the selection of Christmas presents promises to be less imperative later In the month, which will leave more time for attention to the strictly social features of the holidays.Church societies are especially busy with plans for bazaars, holiday entertainments and other similar undertakings. A number of Christmas dances, receptions and card parties are being planned. The return of students from schools and colleges will be the signal for a resumption of activity by members of the younger set.Mr. and Mrs. William Fehrenbach, who have recently moved into their new home, No. 6*30 Jackson avenue, were given a surprise Thursday evening at a house warming. The surprisers presented Mr. and Mrs. Fehrenbach a handsome mahogany chair. Card games furnished the divorslon of the evening, and Mr. and Mrs. G.
