Lawrence Dudink, 47, a Roman Catholic priest, was sentenced to three years at hard labor for abduction of a 17-year-old girL Dudink was brought back from Phoenix, Ariz., where he and Rosalie O’Connell* of Gilbert, Minn., were found by FBI agents last Saturday. The priest was accused of abducting the girl from St. Mary's Hospital here cm Nov. 8, but FBI agents said it appeared she had accompanied him willingly.The priest whose superiorshave described as a reformed alcoholic waived preliminary hearing and was bound over for trial in superior court under $5,000 bond.A few hours later. Superior Court Judge A. Walter Dahlcalled Dudink before him. Thepriest pleaded guilty and wassentenced by 4 p.m.Earlier, Dist Atty. John Chisholm changed the charge against the priest from kidnaping to abduction. He said he made thechange after talking to the O’Connell girl, who’s back with her parents in Gilbert.He pointed out the abduction charge, while carrying the same 15-year prison term as kidnaping, has a moral connotation that kidnaping does not. Dudink was originally charged with kidnaping-Dudink was chaplain at the hospital, the O'Connell girl was a patient FBI agents traced their flight across country through checks Dudink cashed. He had a little more than $1 left when arrested. -Social Security Recipient Told Of Law ChangesDudink told the operator of the motel where they were found that he was a retired businessman, and the girl was his niece. He said he had planned to get work.The girl was undergoing treatment at the hospital for a “nervous disorder when Dudink took her for a ride in his car and never returned. *He was a longtime friend of the family. The girl is back with her family.Dudink is a member of the Divine Word Missionaries of Tech-ny. 111.Today, all people receiving old-age and survivors social security checks received a little slip in the envelope with their checks. This is one way the Social Security Administration is using to tell them of a change in the law as to how much they may earn and still receive their social security checks.Under the old law, which will remain in effect the rest of this year, a person can earn as much as $1200 a year and still receive all of his benefits. For each $S0, or fraction of $80 he earns over that however, one month’s benefit is withheld. There are exception to this. Regardless of % his total earnings a person may receive his benefit for any month he is 72 or over. He may 4lso receive his benefit for any month he neither earns more than $100 in wages nor does substantial work in self-employment.Beginning next year, a person may still earn as much as $1200 and receive all of his benefits. When he earns between $1200 and $1500, he will have $1 in benefits withheld for each $2 he earns. For earnings of over $1500, he1 will have $1 in benefits withheld
