SchindIer-Landis Vows SaidMiss Billie Jo Schindler became and bride of Alan Dale Landis in a 7:30 p.m. ceremony Saturday at the First United Methodist Church. Dr. A. F. Bramble was in charge of the double ring vows for the daughter of Mr, and Mrs. William H. Schindler. 1923 Emerald Dr., and the son of M,r. and Mrs. Armin V. Landis, 150! R.I.Decorations at the altar included bouquets of white gladioli and red carnations with greenery and white hurricane candelabra trimmed with red bows and cedar. Cedar trimmed the chancel and choir railings and red bows and cedar were arranged on tall white pew hurricane candles, which lined the center aisle.The organist was Mrs. Stanley Shumway. Susan North sang “We’ve Only Just Begun,” “Wedding Song” and “The Lord’s Prayer.”Venise lace outlined a satin-striped yoke and fashioned the high collar of the bride’s A-line gown of white delustcred satin. Venise lace also trimmed the Dresden sleeves and detachable chapel train. A bandeau of matching lace petals held her tiered veil of imported silk illusion. Her flowers were a nosegay bouquet of red and white sweetheart roses. For the traditional something borrowed and something old, she wore a ring which belonged to her maternal grandmother.As the wedding party entered the sanctuary, the bridegroom presented a white rose to his mother. As the bride came down the aisle, escorted by her father, she paused to give a white rose to her mother. A red rose was presented to each mother as the couple left the altar after the ceremony.The maid of honor was Sandy Davis and the matron of honor was Mrs. Armin W. Landis, sister-in-law of the bridegroom. The bride’s other attendants were Patti Stultz and Carol Wilson. Their gowns were of scarlet velvet, fashioned with softly gathered floor-length skirts. Borders of while Venise lace trimmed the empire bodice, made with a mandarin collar and bishop sleeves. Their headpieces were of matching velvet-trimmed bows and veils. Each carried a single white rose.Armin W. Landis was his brother’s best man. Karl Kreit-zer of Denver. Colo., brother of the bride; Mark Landis, the bridegroom’s brother, and Bob Anderson were groomsmen. Ushers were Kenneth Koenke of Svracuse, Mo., and Larry Landis, cousins of the bridegroom; Jim Sturm of Emporia and Jack Peters.'For the recention in the church Fellowship Hall, the serving tables were covered with white satin, swagged with red tulle. White sweetheart roses and pom-pons with greenery decorated silver candelabra which held red tapers. Background piano music was played by Peggy Tate of Leavenworth.MR. AND MRS. ALAN DALE LANDISThe cake and punch were served by the bride’s sisters, Mrs. Mike Maturo and Mrs. William Schaake of Halstead; Mrs. Karl Krcitzcr of Denver, and Mrs. Gordon Montney. Sara Stoffcr helped at the guest book, and Becky Anderson and Jan Roberts, at the gift table. Other assistants were Diane Etherton, Robin Etherton, Carla Kirk, Debby Shelley, Mrs. Tom Harden, Mrs. IMabel Kynek, Mrs. William Kollender, Mrs. Ivan Rappard, Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Davis and Mr. and Mrs. Charles T. Woods.Out of town guests were from Denver, Colo.; Belton, Bland,Cuba, Grandview. Independence, Kansas City, Sedalia, Syracuse and Columbia, Mo.; Houston, Tex.; and Baldwin, DeSoto. Emporia, Halstead, Leavenworth, Neodesha, Prairie Village, Shawnee, Valley Falls and Kansas City.After a short wedding trip, the couple will be at home in Lawrence. The bride, who attended Kansas State Teachers College, Emporia, is employed by Panhandle Eastern Pipe Line Co., Kansas City, Mo. The bridegroom, who also was a student at Kansas Stale Teachers College is associated with Landis Davis Paint Store.
