ANNIVERSARYOf Their Wedding—Mr. and Mrs* James Gaffney Entertain.Mr, and Mrs. James Gaffney observed the 52nd anniversary of their marriage at their home In Alden avenue Thanksgiving h?' entertaining the immediate family and friends.• Mr. and Mrs. Gaffney were married in Tarlffvllle, November 27; 1863; by Rev. James Pagan. The bridesmaid was Miss Mary Luffy, now Mrs. Mary Collins of Thompsonville and William Scott of Meriden was best man.Six children were born to them, three of whom are living: Mrs.James Bohannah of Thompsonville, Mrs. Eugene Giblin of Springfield and William of Brooklyn, .N. Y. They have seven grand-children. Mr. Gaffney was born in County Connaught, Ireland, coming to America when a boy. He has since visited his old home twice. He settled in Boston first and stayed a short time there before going to Tariffville. He crossed the country from coast to coats three times. One of these trips was made in 1S49 at the time of the gold fever in California, and he tells many interesting stories of this journey.Mrs. Gaffney before her marriage, was Miss Mary Barry and was born in County Cork, Ireland. She came to this country when a young girl. It took the ship upon which she traveled several weeks to make the journey.Mr. and Mrs. Gaffney on coming to Thompsonville about fifty-two years ago purchased the property in Alden avenue, where they have since lived. They are the oldest property holders in the North-eird of the town.
