GEORGE-PAYNE.Miss Maude Payne, of Westfield, and Mr. Arthur W. George, of Elkin. Married Wednesday.Miss Maud Payne, of Westfield, and Mr. Arthur W. George, of Elkin, were married in Winston-Salem Wednesday of the past week. The ceremony was performed at the home of Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Payne, a relative of the bride and Rev. V. M. Swaim, pastor of Southside Baptist church performed the ceremony. The marriage was a quiet affair, only a few friends of the contracting parties being present.Miss Payne is the cultured and attractive daughter of Mr. and Mrs.E.J. Payne, of Westfield, and has many friends. She has been teaching this fall in the graded school at Elkin and it was there that Mr. George met her.Mr. George is cashier cf the Farmers’ and Mechants’ Bank of Elkin and has been most successful in his work there since taking charge some three or four years ago. Before entering the banking business he was a successful teacher. He has hundreds of friends in the State who will be interested to learn of his marriage.
