GOONTY TREASURER IEDSI\#Marriage 01 William Hay. to Emma M, Doolittle Occurred Thanksgiving Afternoon,^William Hoy, treasurer of Racine ‘county, sprung a genuine surprise on bis friends-this morning, when he announced that on Thanksgiving afternoon he was quietly united in.marriage. His friends were at first of the opinion that he was playing one,of bis practical jokes, but it v/ns true, and the genial county official certainly stole a march on everybody. The lady to whom Mr. Hay was married is Emma M. Doolittle and the ceremony was performed at rhe First Methodist parsonage, by Rev, R. K. Manaton* Ho one had the least suspicion that the event came off, even County* Clerk Bell having been sworn to secrecy when the marriage license was issued.Of'Course congratulations were immediately in order Riid no man ever re-• ceived more good wishes than the popu-; lar Lreasurer. All that prevented his estimable wife -from sharing in the congratulations was the fntct that she could not he present.Mr- ancl Mrs.-Hay will reside at 614 College avenue, and to them will he extended the best wishes of everybody. It is needless for the Journal to tell its readers who Mr. Hay is. He is one of Hie best known residents of the county, lor four year he has been 'treasurer and would have hold the place four years longer, lt;lid the law permit. Good natur-* fir!, popular and up to date is what everybody says of him} and that covers it all.His bride is a handsome and estimable woman and deserving of the happiness in store for her.
