A CLAY COUNTY SENSATION.Stealing a Bride!— Anil Ic fendiug the Claim willia Revolver J-Father and Sou-in* Law Exchange Shots!Mr. Edward Whito lives in Harrison township, this county, and has been known ior many years as a man with whom it would be extremely hazardous to come in angry contact, although in other respects he is considered a good citizen. Mr. White has a daughter ofabo^t fifteen years, named Lorina, to whom one David Gonser has ior some time been paying attention. This, White seriously objected to. However matters remained placid until the night of Wednesday, Nov. 18, when Gonser engaged a livery rig at Middlebury and took the object of his affection buggy riding. That ride culminated in a drive to 'Squire McGregor s at Middlebury, where the two were made one according to the lawr “in such cases made and provided.” Thus far the narrative contains nothing but homely quiet fads. But, alas, the course ot true love never did run smooth, and this ‘course’ was fated not to be an exception to the general rule. The happy pair passed the night at the residence of Mr. Wiltse. In the morning they had an early visitor, the father of the brifle and the father-in-law of the husband. He didn't come to congratulate the married couple upon their new relations toward each other—no, not he ! He was there to demand the custody of hjg daughter. Gonser stated brierij that the girl was now’ his wife, and give her up he would not. Hot words ensued, Gonse ing on the inside ot the house White without. Whito was armed and so was Gonser, w’ho knew the character of the man with whom he had to deal. Who fired the first shot wre are not informed, but the father and son exchanged congratulations from the muzzles of their revolvers several times. White receiving a wound in the abdomeu and a bullet grazing his side. On the other hand one of White's balls passed thi'ough the door of the house and struck the dress of his daughter. After these greetings White retireJ and entered a complaint against Gonser who was arrested and held by bail for trial. White’s wound is not of a very serious nature, he being about at this writing, with hopes of his ultimate recovery. We have given the facts of this unfortunate affair as related to us, and as detailed by a correspondent elsewhere in this paper.—[Bowling Green Herald*
