Robert Wheeler,] pioneer residents of Nebraska, and formerly of Lincoln, recently celebrated their sixty-sixth weddnig anniversary at Teeumseh, Okla , where they moved Upon leaving Lincoln thirty-five years ago.Mr. Wheeler war one time district judge in the Fifth judicialdistrict, comprising six Nebraska counties, an office whieh he heldfrom 1890 to 1895. He and Mrs Wheeler lived in Lincoln for five years before moving to Oklahoma.Covered Wagon.Mr. and Mrs. Wheeler moved to Nebraska via the covered wagon route about a vear after theirmarriage in Illinois, nnd they settled on a lfiO acre government homestead near Osceola in Polkcounty, where he became a dirt farmer in the summer, and a school teacher in the winter. A soon .as he received a patent onthe homestead he built a residencein Osceola and there formed a law partnership with Albinu^ Nance, who v, a i later elect'd governor ofthe stateMr. Wheeler, who is 90 years old. enlisted in the Union army at tin* age of 18. and took part in a few skirmishes and minor engagements in the Civil war. and had aport in one of the hardc-t fought battles on the Hu nmond front on Sept. 29, 1864, the as iult n FortGilmer.
