Martin — VeneriMary Ann McElrath Martin of Sophia and Albert Veneri of Sophia were married July 31 at Sophia United Methodist Church.The bride is the daughter of Anna McElrath and the late Jesse McElrath. She is the mother of David C. Martin and Dwayne Martin, both of Sophia.The groom is the son of the late Lorenzo and Scoleca Veneri. He is the father of De-lores Arm Grear of Sophia.The Revs. Sterling Morgan and Allen Whitt performed the double-ring ceremony.The bride was given in marriage by her family and escorted to the altar by her grandson, Drew C. Martin of Sophia.Maid of honor was Heather Dawn Martin, granddaughterof the bride of Sophia.Bridesmaid was Krystal White of Sophia.Ringbearer was Wade Lawson of Sophia.Flower girl was Scarlet Lawson of Sopnia.Best man was John Grear, son-in-law of the groom of Sophia.Guest book attendant was India Graham of Sophia.Wedding cake attendants were Charlotte Taylor and Susan Bond, both of Midway.Wedding music was provided by the Methodist Choir, Jim Pitsenbarger and the Rev. Allen Whitt.A reception was held following the ceremony in the friendship hall of the church.The bride is a graduate ofSophia High School, Charleston University and West Virginia University. She is employed by the Raleigh County Board of Education and is a teacher at Sophia-Soak Creek Elementary School in Sophia.The groom is retired, after working for Gulf Smokeless Coal Co. and Eastern Associated Coal Corp. He served as president of the Sophia Midget Football League and the Sophia Little League Baseball for 30 years and is serving on the town council.The couple attend Freewill Baptist Church and the United Methodist Church in Sophia.Following a southern honeymoon, the couple will reside in Sophia.
