an Gilder-Jackson vows readWesley Chapel Methodist Church at Mt. Pleasant was the setting for the wedding of Miss Marie Carolyn Jackson, daughter of Mr and Mrs Homer Jackson of Mt. Pleasant, and Kenneth Van Gilder, son of Mr and Mrs C. P. Van Gilder of Jefferson, on Sunday, Aug. 23.The Rev Fred Richard and theRev Roy Hoover officiated at the double ring ceremony at 2:30 p.m. Nuptial music was furnished by Dorothy Swan, organist, and Miss Jean Wassom, who sang “Because” and “Wedding Prayer.”Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a gown of silk organza. The bouffant skirt of organza over tulle and satin featured a wide band of scalloped Chantilly lace which encircled the skirt and swept into a chapel train. The pointed, fitted bodice of Chantilly iace had a scalloped square neckline and the tapered sleeves were long.Her fingertip veil of silk illusion vas attached to a crown of pearls vith aurora borealis crystals, and she carried a prayer book bouquet f blue stephanotis and white roses, centered with a white orchid corsage and a shower of white rib-jons.Attending the bride as matron ofhonor was Mrs Dwight Ridinger. Mrs Dennis Albright was brides-matron and Miss Caryl Peterson, bridesmaid. They wore dresses of ice blue organza, with matching hairbraid crowns and circular veils, and carried bouquets of white stephanotis and blue and white feathered carnations.Cindy Van Gilder, niece of the bridegroom, was flower girl. Roger Hedrick was ring bearer,Charles Van Gilder attended his brother as best man. Groomsmen were Dennis Albright and Robert Jackson, brother of the bride. Jerry Jackson, brother of the bride, and Ron Voigtman were ushers.A reception was held at the church, with out of town guests present from Chicago, Jefferson, Des Moines and Cambridge.The four-tiered white wedding cake, decorated in blue, was cut by Mrs Charles Van Gilder.
