Nesbert Walser ofRt. 1, Thomasville. was wed yesterday afternoon *o Carl E. Matthews Jr. The bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Carl E. Matthews of Rt. 1, Kernersville.The 5 o'clock ceremony at Fairview Methodist Church was performed by Rev. Furman A. Wright, church pastor, and Rev. John William Hoyte III. pastor of Granite Quarry Methodist Church.A program of nuptial music w as rendered by Mrs Billy Clod-felter, organist of Rt. 1. Thomasville. Gary Don McGee of Kernersville sang “Song of Ruth,** “Calm as the Night'' and “The Lord's Prayer.”The bride wa s given in marriage by her father. Her formal gown of Chantilly Lee was fashioned with a scalloped neckline, long tapered sleeves and a bouffant skirt extending into a sweep train. Her veil of bridal illusion was caught by a lace crown accented with pearls end sequins, and she carried a white satin Bible covered with a white orchid and streamers of white satin.Miss Patricia Yokley of Thomasville, cousin of the bride, was maid of honor. Bridesmaids included; Miss Beth Clark of Lexington. cousin of the bride; Miss Fatsy Teal of Forest City, former college roommate of t h e bride; and Mrs. David Matthews of Kemers- ille, sister - in-law of the bridegroom.The bridal attendants were gowned identically in dresses of light blue nylon over taffeta withmatching flirtation veiled headpieces. They cerricd colonial bouquets of yellow summer flowers.David Matthews of Kernersville attended his brother as best man. Ushers were: Bobby Stafford of Winston - Salem. John Hester Jr. of Kernersville. Joe Tandy of Arden and Stuart Reems of Sky land.Guests were registered hv Mrs. Bobby Jones at the door of the church.The couple exchanged their vows under a white arch entwined w ith greenery. Ot he r strands of greenery interspersed with baskets of white gladioli. Cathedral tapers in branched candelabra which illuminated the setting were lit by James Winfree Jr. of Kernersville and Henry David Barrow III of Siler City, both cousins of the bridegroom.The bride s mother was attired in a blue lace dress with navy accessories, and the bridegroom's mother ware a cotton brocade dress of mink brown. Both mothers added corsages of orchids to complement their costumes.For travel, the bride changed to a navy sheath featuring a red and white polka dot trim with which she used red and white accessories. She wore the orchid from her bridal bouquet.The bride is a graduate of Pilot High School and Brevard College. She is a senior at Appalachian State Teacher's College. The bridegroom, a graduate of Glenn High School, was also graduated from Brevard and is employed with Reynolds Tobacco Co. in Winston-Salem.
