Wedding Dale is Set For September 12Announcing the engagement and approaching marriage of herdaughter, Miss Ruth 'Marie Payne, to Lieut, Milton Roelofs, flight instructor at the Lubbock Army Flying school, Mrs. Lee S. Payne of 2111 Fifteenth street, enter* tained with a tea from 4 to 6 o’clock Tuesday afternoon at her home. The marriage will take place September 12.Mary Elizabeth Morgan greeted guests from 4 to 5 o’clock, and presented them to a receiving line made up of the hostess, the hon-oree, Mrs. L. D. Payne, Mrs. C. E. Maedgen and Mrs. G. W. Pickle, Mrs. Anna Burt Gibson greeted guests from 5 to 6 o’clock, Asaiit In ServingMrs. R. G. Porter poured tea from 4 to 5 o’clock, and Mrs. O. P. Clark presided at the service from 5 to 6 o’clock. Assisting with the serving in the dining room during the first hour were Miss Doris Nell Tippit and Mrs. James O. Simmons. Those assisting during the last hour were Mrs. R. C. Harris. Miss Frankie Mae Case and Miss Kathlene NoelS.A musical program was presented consisting of songs by Mary Ellis Maedgen, cousin of the honoree, accompanied by Mary Evelyn Pickle. Piano solos were given by Miss Pickle and violin solos by Carolyn Reynolds, accompanied by Monda Hamilton.Fruit punch end individual cake squares decorated with pink rosebuds were served' to the guests from a table covered with a lace cloth and centered with pink roses and fern arranged on a reflector. Tall pink candles lighted the dining room.As each guest was served, she was presented with a pair of stiver wings vrtth the announcement, “Ruth Marie and Milton. September 12 1942.”About 75 guests called.Lieut. Roelofs is the son of Mr: and Mrs. George Roelofs of Harmony, Minn, He received his wings from the Lubbock Army Flying school in May.
