A CHANGE OFHEAIiQUARTERS.(Native Sons Will Leave TheirPresent Location. The Offer of a Eival Hotel la Accepted—Adlt; dreia Issued by the Decoration Committee—Notes.Last Friday evening, at a meeting of the General Committee of the Native Sons of the Golden West, Chairman Chamberlain asked on behalf of the officers of the committee to be empowered to change their headquarters from the Grand Hotel, stating that this move if made would only be in order to sustain the pride and standing of the Native Sons. The officers were thereupon empowered to make the change whenever they saw litNo reasous for the request were given the committee, who demanded none. Rumors had already received credit that if the move was made it would be cn account of the stand the hotels had taken on the question ol subscriptions.Yesterday' afternoon the matter was submitted to the Executive Committee of the Finance Committee. John H. Ilegler, eating Chairman, presiding. After assembling about him about a dozen membeft of his committee and the officers of the General Committee he entered into a detailed account of the visits made by bis committee to the various hotels and of their reception at and progress with each one.GRAVE, VERY GRAVE.When he came to the names of the Palace and Grand he waxed wroth. He claimed that the Executive Committee, the FinanceCommittee, and through them, the order of Native Sons, had been insulted by Manager Thorn, ana liedemanded;that since Manager Thorn had said the {Native Sons were impediments to his business, and were beggars, the General Committee should hear their grievance and let Mr. Thorn have hisrooms. The rooms in Question are suite 9 and not suite 8, the latter beiug occupied by the Reception Committee, and not involved in the issue.Chairman Chamberlain thought that since those rooms had been so well advertised throughout the State as headquarters and were so well known as such by the interior parlors it would not be doing justice to the order to change on account of the insult of an individual directed against a sub-couimittee.This brought Mr. Hegler to his feet He said: “I am not a child, an ass or a fool. I regard Manager Thorn’s actions as preposterous, outrageous, and I, for one, wont stand it*'“Nor I either/1 said Henry Martin.“Nor I/' “nor I, said George 11. Pippy and Mr. Wieland, all of whom were with Mr. Hegler on the special committee for hotels.“Then, first as well as last, I may as well give my ultimatum,” said Chairman Chamberlain. “i admit we have been grossly insulted. I must have proper apartments for my office, where 1 can be alone, and, at thesame lime, near tne -feting place of thesub-committees, if yOTcan find such quarters, I am decidedly in favor of going.”MORE ROOM ANI) MORE MONEY.It was thereupon decided to visit the apartments offered by H. A. Unruh, temporary manager of the Baldwin Hotel. Thiswas done in a body.Three large suites—Nos. 26, 28 and 37— on the second floor, a waiting-room, lobby, baggage, coat and cloak and reception rooms were offered the Sons as inducements.Ail were so pleased with the extra advantage of the new over tiie old quarters that the Executive Committee recommended theremoval, and, acting on their recommendation, the officers decided on the change, which will be made by to-morrow.buite 8 of the Grand Hotel will still be occupied by the Reception Committee, unless a change by that committee be decided upon. The Committee on Hotels and Accommodations w ill remove to the offiee-room in theBaldwin Ilotel, lt;n the corner of Market and Powell, to-morrow.
