Silence, who was formerly employed at the KiefferPaper Mill.Dear Editor:I take the pleasure of writing a few lines to let you know that I am O. K. I am sure you will be pleased tohear from a soldier ovei'seas and to hear about the old world. I can not say much about it for I haven’t seen much yet, but what I have seen is very beautiful.The buildings are nearly all alikeand built practically on the same style. They are very close together and built of brick and stone and some few of cement, with shingle roofs.The people are very friendly and sociable. They can’t talk our language very well and I can hardly understand them. Their money is very queer to us. The big copper pennies equal two cents. They have a half cent piece. A shilling is worth 24 cents, a half \crown is 50 cents, etc. They call our one dollar bills one dollar gold pieces.The country is very beautiful butnot like America. I have not seena shock of coin since I have been
