Payater'Cieel.iA pretty wedding occured at “Maple Crest,” the suburban home of Mrs. Jacob L. Paynter last Sun* day evening, when Miss Evelyn May Paynter and Mr. Grover C. Cisel were united in marriage.At seven o’olock the wedding march #as played by Miss Harriet Paynter, and Miss May was met at the foot of the stairway by her brother, Dr. L. W. Paynter, who conducted her to an arch of green, where the groom stood awaiting her, beneath which they stood while the ceremony was performed by Dr. J.T. O'Neal, of Weir Memor* ial M. E. church.The bride, carrying a large bo-quet of white carnations was beautiful in a gown of white sheer linen, trimmed in baby Irish lace, while th£ groom wore the conventional black.After the ceremony, a traveling suit of dark blue was donned by the bride and the couple left for Muscogee, Indian Territory, where they will make a short yisit to the Hon. J. Cisel, brother of the groom, after which they will go to Billings, Montana, where Mr. Cisel will practice law in the firm of Davis Cisel.Cupid foresaw the happy result of the meeting of this couple at Indiana University five years ago where both were students. After two years at Indiana University, Mr. Cisel spent three years at Ann Arbor, where he graduated from the law department of that university last spring. He is the son of Mr. John CiRel, of Allendale, Illinois.Miss May is the daughter of the late Jacob L Paynter and wife, Mrs. Emma Paynter. She was one of the most successful teachers in the county. She endeared herself with her gentle, cheerful disposition to both pupils and patrons of Canton, where she has been the primary t eacher for the past four years.As a social factor among the young people of Salem, she will be greatly miBsed, haring been a fav orite Club, Eastern Star and Church member.They were the recipients of many handsome and elegant presents.Death of Mrs. Tatlock.
