: Flemings reuniteWilliam moved to California, andGeorge to New York.The family enjoyed three days of fun and solemn activities, reminiscing about old times and re-acquainting themselves with each other. The affair at the inn included a reception, a gala extravanganza, and a luncheon. The family also had a picnic at the Lockhart Municipal Park and worshipped at the First Baptist Church in Lockhart, where Doris McDavid, another grandaughter of Silas, has been a longtime member.Four generations, offspring of John, William, and George, attended the reunion. Vida Cyphers, John’s eldest daug hter, briefly attended the reception. John’s second daughter, Esther Hawkins of San Antonio, was a consultant and family honoree. DorisMcDavid, John’s youngest daughter,celebrated in the event when relatives visited her there. Dorothy Fleming, daughter of Geoige, came from Fresh Meadows, New York. Jerry Flemings of Roseville, Minnesota, and his sister, Betty Fleming Christian of San Francisco, California, grandchildren of William, attended. Other descendants of Silas included greatgrandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, and great-great-great-grandchildren who attended, along with other relatives and friends.The reunion was organized by agreat-great-grandaughter of Silas, Lin-dale Lewis of New Port News, Va., and a great-grandaughter, Shirley McDavid of Oakland, Calif., coordinator of the reunion.
