The eloping couple from Salem mentioned in last week's Democrat were Charley Plews and Miss Cora Haruett, who were married at Jeffersonville last Thursday, returning home to Salem that evening. Friday's Louisville papers contained sensational accounts j of the young couple’s trials in evading the watchful eyes of the bride’s mother, detailing how they attempted to elope in a buggy but the buggy broke down, aud how they had to ride on the front end of the baggage car out of Salem because the mother was in the coach | looking for them. But they they were successful in the end and are now happy husband and wife, and life’s real battles for them are yet to come. We wish them success.
