ADAM WARREN LOVE JR.Miss Paulette Lowry became the bride of Adam Warren Love Jr. on Saturday afternoon, August 14, at 4 o’clock in a double-ring ceremony performed by the Rev. Julian Ransom at Harper’s Ferry Baptist Church in Pembroke.The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Braddy B. Woodell of Pembroke and the late Cliff Lowry Jr. Parents of the bridegroom are Mr. and Mrs. Adam Warren Love of Badin.A program of wedding music was presented by Mrs. Alvin Mercer, organist, and Miss Felicia Maynor, soloist.The bride was escorted to the altar by her uncle, Alford Lowry of Fairfield, Calif. Her gown of Chantilly lace was designed with empire silhouette, short puffed baby-doll sleeves, square neckline and open back. Her all-lace tiered skirt featured an attached cathedral-length train.The bride wore:pearls of her mother-in-law • and a handkerchief • from her maternal grandmother, Mrs. John Bunyan Locklear. Her cathedral-length veil was trimmed in matching Chantilly lace with two tiers of elbow-length illusion. She carried a bouquet of orchids, roses and baby’s breath.Miss Zoe Ann Woodell of Pembroke, sister of the bride, was maid of honor. Mrs. Willie Faye Sampson attended as matron of honor. Bridesmaids were the bride’s sisters, Mrs. Jeffery Brooks of Fairmont, Mrs. David Dixon of Danville, Va. and Miss Lisa Woodell of Pembroke; her sister-in-law, Mrs. Roger Lowry; and the bridegroom’s sister, Mrs. Rubin Shaver of Troutman.Miss Sonya Lowry, niece of the bride, was ring bearer. Flower girls were Misses Mary Beth Sampson and Tamara Shaver of Troutman, a niece of the bridegroom.The maid of honor wore a gown of Nile green knit styled with high neckline, attached capelet bodice and full circular skirt. Attendants wore identical gowns in rainbow colors of blue, Orchid, pink, maize, aqua, apricot, blue and Nile green. The little flower girls were inmaize organza fashioned with high ruffled necklines, puffed sleeves and full skirts.Attendants wore multicolored flowers in their hair and carried bouquets of multicolored flowers.The bridegroom’s father served as best man. Ushers were his brother-in-law, Rubin Shaven of Troutman; Warren Baker of Pembroke; Clyde McLeod of Maxton; Herman Stevens and Ned Hughes of Tabor City and Buck Conway of Maysville. Master Patrick Locklear, the bride’s cousin, was a ringbearer.Mr. and Mrs. Reggie Strickland greeted wedding guests. Dr. and Mrs. Gerald Maynor said goodbyes.The bride is a graduate of Pembroke Senior High School and attended Southeastern Community College. She is employed with Service Oil Company of Pembroke. The bridegroom, a graduate of Pembroke State University with a master’s degree from Appalachian State University, is employed with PSU.Following a wedding trip to Florida and the Bahamas, Mr. and Mrs. Love will live in Pembroke.RECEPTION A reception was held in the fellowship hall of the church following the ceremony. Mr. and Mrs. Trussie Rogers of Virginia Beach, Va., aunt and uncle of the bride, were hosts.The four-tiered wedding cake decorated with multi-colored flowers was served by Mrs. Bracy Sampson, who also baked the cake.REHEARSAL DINNER A rehearsal dinner was given by the bridegroom’s parents in the church reception hall.At this time the bridal couple presented their attendants with gifts.OTHER COURTESIES Miss Lowry was honored with three bridal showers in July.Mrs. Elvin Fisher and Mrs. Edmund Crawford were hosts at a shower given at Badin Methodist Church Fellowship Hall in Badin on July 24.A surprise linen shower was given by Mmes. Willie Faye Sampson and Reggie Strickland at the bridegroom’s Town andFair Bluff The Nellie Waddell Circle of Fair Bluff United Methodist Women hosted the Rosa Tucker Circle Wednesday evening in b rilowship Hall of the church. Seventeen members were present.Mrs. Jackie Scott, new general president, presided over the business meeting. Reports were given by standing committees. Mrs. Scott reported on the Summer News Letter put out by UMW of North Carolina Conference.A special appeal was made ' for Campbell Soup labels to be sent in to benefit Navajo Indian Mission in New Mexico. Scholarship award recipientsfrom North Carolina were• •announced.The dates for the 1976 annual conference of UMW are October 1 and 2 in Sanford.Mrs. I.M. Scott gave the program beginning with a devotion taken from Deuteronomy 11, verse 12. Her subject was “National Identity Crisis” based on excerpts from Dr. Ralph Cannon of Sumter, S.C.As in personal identity/national identity has gone through many crises andsuffered many growing pains, Mrs. Scott said. She pointed out that no nation could be God’s chosen people as no nation can play God to the other nations.'“Our government was established as one to follow God’s leadership, but at times we as a nation have expected God to follow our planning instead of seeking his leadership”, the speaker said. History discloses many .. mistakes as well as many accomplishments. Our history is marred by many blemishes such as slavery and our treatment of the Indians, as well as many glories and grandeurs.“In a country such as ours the National Identity depends on its , people.”During the social hour a parfait was served with cookies by the host circle.dCgKcICv' i*‘VSON IS BORNMr. and Mrs. James Allen Ball of Fayetteville announce-the birth of a son, James Allen n, weight 6 lbs. 12Ms oz., on July' 27 at Cape Fear Valley Hospital:Mrs. Ball is the former Sandra Jean Long, daughter of Mr. and MrsMaylon Long of Pembroke. Paternal grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Frank Ball of Lumberton.The Balls have a daughter, Renee, aged 4.Country apartment . in Pembroke on July 28.On July 31, a shower was given in Miss Lowry’s honor by Mmes.
