Church was the scene Wednesday evening at 7:30 of the marriage of Miss Barbara Jean Lloyd, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ellsworth Llovd of Manchester Road, and Pvt. Elisha Abner Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs Elisha Abner of Lafayette Street.The Rev, Lloyd Bassett performed the double -ring ceremony before an altar decorated with a large basket of carnations, candles and bouquets of summer flowers.Nuptial music was presented by Miss Betty Vice, vocalist, and Mrs. Robert Gray, pianist.Preceding the bride to the altar was her maid of honor. Miss Shirley Tewell, who was attired in an orchid ballerina - length gown. Miss Tewell carried a bouquet of pink carnations.The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a waltz - length gown of white Chantilly lace over nylon net and satin. Net ruffles outlined the low cut neckline of the fitted bodice and formed a stand-up collar in the back. The long fitted sleeves tapered to points at her hands. The skirt, which endedin nylon net ruffles, featured a bustle formed of lace drawn to the waist on either side. Her fingertip veil of illusion was caught to a pearl-adorned crescent headpuve. Sh carrhxi white car nations on a white satin Bible and wore a single strand of pearls, the gift of the bridegroom,Ivor Aoberts, brother .in - law of the bridegroom, served as best man, and the ushers were Lari Abner, brother of the bridegroom, and Gordon Lldyd, brother of the bride.Assisting hostesses at the reception at the home of the bride's parents were Mrs. Ivor Roberts, Mrs. Clyde Keeton and Mrs. Jerry Salyers, s sters of the bride-grolt; a.Mrs. I loyd wlt; re for he r daughter’s wedding a brown nylon dress, while Mrs. Abner, mother of the bridegroom, chose navy blue. Both wore white accessories and white carnation corsages.The new Mrs. Abner changed into a white linen suit with matching accessories for her wedding trip south.The bride, a graduate of . Lemon - Monroe High School, is employed by G. C. Murphy Co. Private Abner, a graduate of Middletown High School, will be stationed iii Alaska after his furlough, ILs wife plans to join him there.
