Previous to the murder of his child he struck another daughter, 5 years old, with an iron bar, breaking her chest bone.This daughter is now living with her mother in the horel and one of her children, 5 years old, is with her. The child is an imbecile, and Dr. Matthews savs is utterly unable to take care of herself. Tae mother’s name is Mrs. Amelia Rutten. She has been married and divorced three times, has seven children and told Dr. Matthews she was watttog the statutory limitation to marry again. Dr. Matthews told her it was a crime for her to marry.“The house is unfit for animals to live in,” said Dr. Matthews. “It is disease-breeding and unsanitary in the extreme.
