Yankee School Teacher Weds a Robeson County Croatan.A Raleigh dispatch of recent date has the following:“Something of a romance has developed in connection with the last session of the Croatan Normal School, maintained by the State at Pates, Robeson county, for the Croatan Indians thereabouts, in that a pretty young white teacher, who was brought from New York State as a teacher in one of the most important departiiients, has'* married one of the brighest and, best-looking young Croatans among the students, the marriage having been in New York State for the reason that the intermarriage of Indians and white people is prohibited by law in this State. The teacher was Miss Myrel E. Sharp, and the young Indian she married is J. H. Dial, son of a well-to-do Croatan at Lumberton. She is about thirty years oid and he about twenty-three.”The father of the groom lives 1 near Pates, and not at Lumber-1ton. It will be recalled that; this “romance” caused some friction in the school just before , i the close ot the spring term.
