It had taken him a while to get over the shock of his first wife’s death and he had devoted much of the time since then to ’ their preteen son.Harold had tried a singles club based out of Sheboygan with unsatisfactory results. Then he tried a personal ad in the Midweek Bulletin and his luck changed.“I was overwhelmed by the response,” Langer said of the replies to his ad, which he placed in April of 1991. But his interest kept coming back to one individual, the first one he contacted after receiving answers to his ads.That woman, on April 4, 1992, became Mrs. Dorothy Langer.“We laugh about it a lot,” Harold says, adding that many of the couple’s friends “can’t believe” how the two met. But the couple has preserved the adHarold ran, and the letter Dorothy wrote to reply to it, as treasured keepsakes.The couple also has some advice for others who are still seeking a partner.In a letter they wrote to the Midweek Bulletin to inform the paper of their story, the couple said “. . . tell your readers to keep the faith and there’s someone out there for them. Just be yourself and happiness will come.”
