AND MRS.JIM ELLIOTTDonna Anthis becomesMiss Donna Ellen Anthis became the bride of Jim Elliott in a summer afternoonceremony on July 17, at the Patoka United Methodist Church.Parents of the couple are Mr. and Mrs. Don Anthis of Patoka, and Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Elliott of Hazleton.The Rev. Albert Bowles officiated at the double ring ceremony before an altar decorated with ferns, a floral arrangement of gladiolas, and white candelabras. Organist Mrs. Marilyn Hudson played the pre-nuptial selections, and accompanied soloist Mrs. Betty Farris.The bride, escorted to the altar by her father, was attired in a gown of silk organza and lace. The gown, fashioned by her aunt, Mrs. Doris Harrison, featured a high neckline, lace bodice, sheer lace bell sleeves, with lace applique on the skirt. The detachable matching train was edged in lace and was secured with a satin band. The fingertip veil of illusion was caught to a lace and satin band.The bridal bouquet was of pink roses, white fuji mums, astors, and babies’ breath with pale pink streamers tied in lovers knots.The couple lit the unity candle during the service, symbolizing their union. Mrs. Betty Farrus sang “The Lord’s Prayer’’ as the couple knelt before the altar.In keeping with tradition, the bride wore a old ring for her something old, belonging to her maternal grandmother; something new, pearl earrings, gift from paternal grandmother ; something borrowed, a handkerchief, belonging to her aunt, Sherrell Olmsted, and somthing blue was her garter.Miss Jeannine White was chosen maid of honer. Bridesmaids were Miss Joanna Chandler and Miss Lanetta Penner, all friends of the bride. Serving as flower girl was Miss Lisa Cline, friend of the bride. Jeannine, Joanna and Lanetta were attired in pale pink gowns, fashioned with capelets which formed the sleeves. Each girl wore a picture hat with matching ribbon, and carried a pink long-stemmed carnation.Lisa wore a long dress of pink and white dotted Swiss fashioned with matching :apelet. She carried a basket of pink, lavendar and blue flowers. For her daughter’s wedding,Mrs. Anthis chose pink floral knit with pink corsage. The groom's mother was attired in a light pink dress, with a pink corsage to complete the ensemble.Chuck Blackburn, friend of the groom was best man. Tony Gieselman, friend, and Jim Styles, cousin of groom, served as groomsmen. David Elliott, nephew of groom, was ring bearer. Serving as ushers were Dana Michael Anthis, brother of bride, and Tony Hoover, friend of bride. 1The groom was attired in a dark blue tuxedo, light blue ruffled shirt, and wore a white, 1 tipped in blue boutonniere. J The bride’s father, groom’s : father, groomsmen, ring bearer c and ushers were attired in light 1 blue and wore lavendar v boutonieres.Miss Angie Hopper distributed rice bags to the guests.A reception was held immediately following the ceremony in the church basement. A pale pink four-tiered wedding cake decorated with white roses centered the punch table. Small white baskets of pink and lavendar flowers decorated guest tables. Assisting at the reception were Sherrell Olmsted, Brenda Renner and Charla McKannan. Charla also registered guests and assisted at the gift table.The groom’s parents hosted a dinner for members of the wedding party and guests at the Hazleton Community Center on Friday evening, July 16.Mrs. Jim Elliott will be attending Wabash Valley College in September. Elliott is employed with Cargil and attends evening classes at Wabash Valley College.After a southern wedding trip to Florida and the Smokey Mountains, the couple are making their home near Hazleton.Senior Citizens dinner ThursdayThe Senior Citizens of Oakland City will have their meeting on Thursday, August 12. A barbecued chicken dinner will be served at 6:30 p.m.Each member is asked to bring a covered dish, but no meat. Rev. Mrs. Berniece Hayes, pastor of Forsythe Methodist Church will be the speaker for the meeting.
