Announces Approaching MarriageAnnouncement of the engagement and approaching marriage of Miss Jeannette Smothers, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Johnson Smothers, 612 Illinois street, to Doxey Wilkerson of Kansas City was made at an informal entertainment given at the Smothers home last evening for two girls who are leaving summer school this week, Alice Simms, who is receiving her degree and who will teach this winter in Webster Groves, Mo., and Lillian Groomer of Kansas City.The three girls are all members of the Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority. Cupids and hearts were feat-; ured in the refreshments, which • were in pink and green.Immediately after their marriage, which will take place on Sunday, September 11, the bride and groom will leave for Balti-. more and Washington, going from I there to Petersburg, Va., where Mr. Wilkerson will teach in a college. He received his master’s degree at K. U. in June and is a’member of the Aloha i hi Alpha fraternity.
