Miss Caryl Lathrop 1 f-chell, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. ' Fondren Mitchell, became the bride of Mr. Cochran Albert iscott, son of Mr. and Mrs. \V. Fred Scott, Sr., at the Methodist Church Friday eve-. ning, August 7, at 8:30 p.m. j The ceremony, performed by Rev. \ Olin C. Cooper united two of the : most prominent families in Thom-asville and was witnessed by hundreds of friends and relatives of the bridal couple.The church was beautifully d*c-orated and lighted by the glow of numbers of tall white tapers. In the vestibule, arrangements of greenery were placed in the windows, and on the console tableHIWA THEATREV 4 CL 1 —' «stood a long basket of loquat leaves flanked by sconces bidding streamers of English ivy.Cathedral candles were placed on the ends of the pews, fastened by white satin ribbons to winch sprays of clematis had been tast-ened.Sparkleberry, magnolia leaves, and rubber plants were banked against the white panelling ot the choir rail. In the«choir loft iarg* branches of sparkleberry v ere beautifully silhouetted against the white walls on either side of the organ. A myriad of lighted tapers in white seven-branched c m-delabra illumined the scene and cast a soft glow over the large arrangement of chrysanthemums, white Ireesia and jade foliage which was placed directly below the gold cross in the center of the chancel. The wings of tne church were adorned with bask^.swith clusters of valley lillies. At one end stood the tour-tiered wedding cake decorated with valley lillies, stephanotis and white rub-rum lillies. Atop the cake were two wedding bells in which tiny valley lillies were clustered. At the other end a large silver epergne featured a striking floral arrangement of white Fujil mums and bridal roses with stephanotis and tuberoses.A graceful container of clematis decorated the mantle top and five-branched silver candelabra stood on either side of a tall crystal epergne filled with frosted grapes on the bouffet. The candelabra were showered with valley lilhes.Healths were proposed to the bride and groom and the guests partook of the champagne and fruit punch, sandwiches, mints and nuts which were served from two punch tables on the terrace.
