youngman-sherer WEDDING AT BURLINGTON JULY 26Grace Methodist church in Burlington was the setting for the wedding of Janet June Youngman, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Youngmar/ of Winfield, to Richard Neale Sherer, son of Mrs. Rosella Sherer of Burlington, and the late Leslie E. Sherer, on Saturday, July 26. The Rev. Arthur E. Brent, pastor of the First Methodist church at Winfield, officiated at the double ring ceremony.The sanctuary was decorated with southern smilax, white flowers and lighted candelabra. White flowers and lighted tapers marked the pews.Wedding music was given by Richard Lemon of Burlington at the organ and Larry Youngman of Winfield, brother of the bride, who sang “Through the Years, 'Because, and The Lord’s Prayer” as the couple knelt at the altar on a satin pillow.The bride’s attendants were Wanda Roberts of Winfield, maid of honor, Lucille Sherer, sister of the bridegroom, and Marilyn Shroder, both of Burlington, as bridesmaids, and Patricia Youngman of Mt. Pleasant, niece of the bride, as junior bridesmaid. Margaret Ruth Youngman of Mt. Pleasant, niece of the bride, was flower girl and Rand Youngman of Mt. Pleasant, nephew of the bride, was ring bearer.The bridegroom’s attendants were La Monte Duke and Dean Van Os-dol of Burlington. Richard Anderson and Jack Berkshire of Winfield were ushers.Taperlighters were Mrs. Eugene Meeker of Iowa City and Vergene Kongable of Des Moines Guest book attendants were Karen and Rosiland Rodruck of Winfield, nieces of the bride.The bride, given in marriage by her father, was attired in a wedding gown of layers of nylon tulle over taffeta. All over lace, highlighted with opalescent sequins, formed the bodice fashioned with portrait neckline, short sleeves, and a peplum across the front which cascaded down the back in a deep V, accented with a deep bow and flowed into the chapel train. Her nylon, finger-tip length veil fell from a matching pill box of lace and sequins. She carried a bridal bouquet of roses and carnations with ribbon streamers.Her attendant^ wore ballerina length gowns of chiffon over taffeta. Muss Roberts wore lavender. Muss Sherer wore yellow. Miss Shroder wore green and Miss Patricia Youngman a gown of pink, j Their hats matched their gowns, j Their bouquets were of carnations. I Mrs. Meeker and Miss Kongable wore lavender and yellow gowns' with matching hats.Men of the wedding party were attired in black trousers with white jackets, and had white carnation boutonnieres.Following the ceremony a reception was held in the church basement. The bride's table was covered with lace table cloth, and centered with a three tier white cake, decorated with yellow and green, and flanked with pink roses. The serving table was decorated with pompons and smilax.Reception hostess was Mrs. Eugene Rodruck of Winfield, sister of the bride. Mrs. Mel Youngman of Mt. Pleasant served punch and Mary Rowan of Burlington served coffee After the bridal couple cut the first piece of cake it was served by Miss Charlotte Rief of Burlington One of the church circles assisted with the reception.The bride is a graduate of Winfield high school and Burlington Business College, and is presently employed at the J. Thus year he will teach at Horace Mann Junior high school in Burlington.For her going-away ensemble the bride wore a light blue embroidered linen sheath dress with white ac- j cessories, and a corsage of flowers from her bouquet.After a wedding trip to St. Louis, Mo., they are making their home at Belle-Aire apartments on Acres street.r(tis
